What did I want to be when I grew up?
Didn't have a clue.
When I was in school other kids would say "I want to be...when I grow up" but I never did. Instead I started asking every adult I met what they did for a living, did they like what they do, did they have to go to college or learn special skills for their job, and how much money did the job pay.
When I started college, I still didn't know.
I liked to write so I decided on English as a major. When I came close to graduating, since I still didn't know what I wanted to do for a career, I applied to Graduate School for English. It was in Graduate School that I met Maureen who nagged me until I agreed to attend her web design workshop.
I loved it!
At the time though, only computer science majors could get web design jobs and I didn't want to start all over so I just kept doing web design as a hobby. Instead, I took a job as an Academic Advisor right here at the University of Maryland. After 5 years of advising students on majors and careers, I decided it was time for my career to start.

So back to school I went.
With some money saved in the bank, I quit my job and went back to school to study web design and graphic design. While studying I did an internship to learn more about this career field. Gloria, the woman I worked for, owned her own business and that's what inspired me to start my own when I graduated.
I'm a business owner.
I have my own marketing, web and graphic design and social media marketing business. Now I hire college students to do an internship with my business and help guide them on their career path.
